Back New LEMON course on the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture

New online course

The new LEMON course on the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) is now available on the Help E-Learning platefrom.

Aimed at the general public as much as at education practitioners and policymakers, the course will allow learners to develop a richer understanding of the background to the RFCDC, its conceptual foundations, the competences required for democratic culture and their descriptors, and the possible adaptations of the model to different education systems.

Ultimately, the RFCDC is a tool enabling schools and education systems in general to instil the skills needed for pupils to participate effectively in a culture of democracy and to live peacefully together in culturally diverse societies. The course comprises three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced, each of an approximate duration of 2 hours (depending on the level chosen).
An initial assessment will facilitate the learner’s decision on whether to start from the basic level or pass to the next one!

Whether you are simply curious and wish to contribute to the life of your community, or if you want to discover how to best adapt your classroom activities and design a curriculum to actively engage with democratic culture processes and procedures, the course is a first step in the right direction.

This course is part of re-designing of the self-learning LEMON courses, and will be complemented by additional specific modules on:

  • Whole-School Approach,
  • Teacher Education,
  • Fight against Radicalisation,
  • Pedagogy,
  • Curriculum,
  • Higher Education, and
  • Languages.
