Refugees from countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Egypt had their qualifications assessed during an evaluation session organised in Athens on 15-19 October 2018 in the context of the new phase of the Project “European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR)”.
Credential evaluators, members of the national recognition centres (ENIC/NARICs) of Armenia, Canada, Greece, France, Netherlands and Norway interviewed 52 refugees and have used online technology for the evaluation of candidates’ qualifications in 23 video interviews.
For this assessment session, the project team received local support from UN agencies, namely IOM and UNHCR, and from NGOs working with refugees such as Solidarity Now and Second Tree, in order to organise video interviews with refugees.
The EQPR is the only international instrument developed with the aim to facilitate the recognition of refugees’ qualifications even in absence of full documentation and to offer this assessment validity in case refugees move to new host countries in Europe. The EQPR aims to contribute to a substantial saving of time and effort, and hence of funds, for refugees as well as for public authorities.
The next evaluation session will take place in Turin and Milan (Italy) on 12-16 November 2018.
