The Data Protection Unit of the Council of Europe is participating in the International Congress on data protection which gathers over 300 national participants. Convention 108+, as well as its articulation with the GDPR of the European Union will be presented during that event. Brazil was recently admitted as an observer in the Committee of Convention 108 and will hopefully first participate in one of the forthcoming meetings of the Committee. One of the topical questions is whether to know if confirmation of the establishment of a data protection authority will, or not, be given before the end of the year. It has to be recalled that the "General law on data protection" (Law 13.709/2018) does not foresee the details of the establishment of a supervisory authority.
