EaP practitioners discuss corruption risk areas in the health sector

On 14 – 15 December 2017, health sector and anti-corruption practitioners from the Eastern Partnership countries got together to discuss corruption risks in the health sector and methods to be used to identify such risks in their respective countries. During the two-day Workshop on “Corruption Risk Assessment in the Health Sector” held in Kyiv, Ukraine, Council of Europe experts and workshop participants considered the impact of corruption on the health sector, systemic gaps that facilitate corrupt practices, and practices visible in the Eastern Partnership countries.

Jointly with the Council of Europe experts, national representatives identified health subsectors which will be assessed for corruption risks and developed country methodologies to be used for the assessments. The Workshop is the first step in the “Corruption Risk Assessment in the Health Sector” for the Eastern Partnership region that is being conducted under the PCF Regional Project “Fight against Corruption and Fostering Good Governance/Fight against Money Laundering”. The Workshop will be followed by in-country missions at the beginning of 2017, which should lead to the drafting of an Assessment Report in mid-2017.
