A high-level Joint Launching Conference took place in Podgorica on 24 November 2016 marking the start of the implementation of the European Union and Council of Europe’s Horizontal Facility Actions in Montenegro. The launching event was attended by high-level representatives of Montenegro, including the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, the Supreme State Prosecutor Office, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, the Agency for Prevention of Corruption as well as the European Union Delegation to Montenegro and the Council of Europe.
H.E. Aivo Orav, the Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, underlined in his opening remarks the timeliness of the Action against Economic Crime and stressed its importance in light of the priorities of the latest EU Progress Report. Ms Vesna Medenica, President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, Mr Ivica Stanković, the Supreme State Prosecutor of Montenegro and Mr Sreten Radonjić, the Director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption underlined the commitment of their institutions in the successful implementation of the Action.
The event also served as a platform to present the Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro to multiple stakeholders, including beneficiary institutions, representatives of the international community and the civil society with whom the Action will work closely during the implementation phase.
