The Bureau of the Congress has decided to grant the patronage of the Congress for the Emperor Maximilian Prize. This Prize is awarded by the State of Tyrol and the City of Innsbruck to recognise extraordinary projects by individuals, institutions or organisations that generate added value at regional and/or municipal level in Europe.

In the light of the COVID-19 crisis, the Emperor-Maximilian-Prize for the year 2021 has been placed under the focus: "Facing challenges together – for a stronger Europe: civil society commitment and the contribution of young Europeans in times of crisis". The aim is to specifically address projects and initiatives which, despite the circumstances, have found a way of enhancing prosperous cooperation on a European scale.

The prize consists of a certificate, a medal (medallion of Emperor Maximilian I from 1509) and a cash prize in the amount of €10,000. The cash prize is earmarked for the winning project.

The deadline for applications is 31 December 2020. Applications must be submitted using the form available on the Emperor Maximilian Prize website.

All information about the prize is available in German, English and French on the website.
