Back Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 10 November 2021

At the 1417th meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies, on 10 November, the Secretary General presented the 24th consolidated report on the conflict in Georgia, covering the period from April - September 2021. The Deputies then held a debate on this topic, with the participation of Mr Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

The Deputies adopted a Declaration by the Committee of Ministers on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the MEDICRIME Convention - Protecting public health through criminal law measures.

On the occasion of the 7th European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (18 November 2021), six Council of Europe member States*Andorra, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, San Marino and Slovenia issued a joint statement, supported by the 41 other member States,* Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and United Kingdomas well as the Delegation of the European Union and Tunisia. The Deputies subsequently held an exchange of views with Ms Christel De Craim, Chairperson of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Committee).

The Deputies also held an exchange of views with Mr Joao Goulao, President of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on the Co-operation Groupe on Drugs and Addictions (Pompidou Group), on the occasion of the Group's 50th Anniversary.

Finally, the Deputies approved Neighbourhood Partnerships for the period 2022-2025 with Morocco and Tunisia, while calling on the Tunisian authorities to respect and guarantee democracy, fundamental rights and the rule of law in Tunisia.
