On 18th and 19th March the Bureau to the Standing Committee to the Bern Convention met in Strasbourg for its first annual meeting for 2019.

The Bureau assessed progress in the implementation of the Convention’s Programme of Activities 2019 and the state of preparation of expert group meetings. The Bureau reviewed and provided advice on draft working documents to be submitted for opinion and comments to Contracting Parties. It further assessed a number of pending and open case-files submitted by citizens and NGOs and alleging possible violations of the Convention, including new complaints received in 2018 by the Secretariat.
