The Group of Specialists on the European Diploma for Protected Areas held its annual meeting from 20 to 21 February 2024 in Strasbourg. The Group discussed consequences of the cessation of the membership of the Russian Federation to the Council of Europe and of the freeze of the technical cooperation with Belarus, reflected on how the monitoring of the European Diploma can contribute to the achievement of the Strategic Plan of the Bern Convention, examined the findings of on-the-spot appraisal visits to 7 protected areas, considered several sites requiring particular attention and plan the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the European Diploma in 2025.
