The Group of Specialists on the European Diploma for Protected Areas held its annual meeting on 5 and 6 March 2019 in Strasbourg. This year, the Group examined a new application, discussed the opportunity to renew the European Diploma of 13 areas and determined whether areas require particular attention. The Specialists also monitored the implementation of Committee of Ministers’ conditions and recommendations attached to the decisions awarding or renewing the Diploma.

Finally the Group of Specialists further discussed the improvement of its monitoring tools, examined the extent to which synergies with other international designations or certifications could be created and exchanged views on ways to attract more raise more interest and visibility on the European Diploma.
