On 19th March the Bureau of the Standing Committee to the Bern Convention met in Strasbourg for its first annual meeting for 2018.

The Bureau followed up on the decisions taken at the 37th Standing Committee meeting in December 2017, more specifically on the launch and progress in the implementation of the Convention’s Programme of Activities 2018-2019 and its budget. The Bureau further reviewed the state of preparation of forthcoming meetings planned for 2018 and provided guidance on specific issues to be debated at these events.

It further assessed a number of pending and open case-files submitted by citizens and NGOs and alleging possible violations of the Convention, including 3 new complaints received in 2017 by the Secretariat.
