The Bureau to the Standing Committee of the Bern Convention held its second ordinary meeting of 2020 on 15-16 September by video-conference.

The Bureau discussed and reviewed proposals for ensuring the financial sustainability of the Convention. It assessed progress in the implementation of the Convention’s Programme of Activities for 2020 including projects on illegal killing of birds, invasive alien species, development of Emerald Network tools, and a communication campaign.

The Bureau further assessed a number of pending and open case-files submitted by citizens and NGOs on alleged violations of the Convention, including the state of play of two on-the-spot appraisal visits, as well as new complaints received in 2020 by the Secretariat.
