The Group of Specialists on the European Diploma for Protected Areas held its annual meeting on 18-19 March 2020 by video-conference. This year, the Group agreed to award a new site with the Diploma, discussed the renewal of the Diploma to 14 areas and took decisions on areas requiring particular attention. The Specialists also monitored the implementation of Committee of Ministers’ conditions and recommendations attached to the decisions awarding or renewing the Diploma.

The Group of Specialists further discussed improvements of its monitoring tools, examined the extent to which synergies with other international designations or certifications could be created and exchanged views on a new vision for the European Diploma.
