Biogeographical evaluation seminar on sufficiency assessment of proposed and candidate Emerald Network sites in Caucasus Region

Thanks to the support of the European Union funded project ENI SEIS II that is implemented by the European Environment Agency, an Emerald Network biogeographical evaluation seminar took place on 8 and 9 November 2017 in Tbilisi (Georgia). Focus has been given to the sufficiency of the representation of animal species (except birds), habitats and plant species in the proposed and candidate Emerald Network sites in the Caucasus Region. This seminar has been carried out within the framework of the ENI SEIS II East project, funded by the European Union through the European Neighbourhood Instrument and implemented by the European Environment Agency in the Eastern Partnership Region.
Participants to these seminar discussions consisted of evaluators, representatives of national authorities, NGOs, independent experts and observers, as well as representatives of the Council of Europe, the European Union and the European Environment Agency.

The previous biogeographical evaluation of the sufficiency of the proposed and candidate Emerald Network sites of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia dates back in May 2015 for the habitats and species (except birds) and in December 2016 for birds.
