Back Turkey: Freedom of expression working group agrees 2016 actions

Issues relating to freedom of expression in Turkey have been discussed in Ankara, on 17 December 2015, by the informal working group established at the beginning of the year 2015 as part of Turkey’s Action Plan to prevent violations of the European Convention on Human Rights. The group agreed notably to hold, in the first half of 2016, a high-level Conference that will feed into a review of anti-terror legislation, relevant provisions of the Penal Code, internet law, and the practical implementation of these laws, in the context of the Convention and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. It is recalled that the Action Plan was adopted in 2014 notably with a view to ensuring the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights finding violations of freedom of expression.
