THE FIRST STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE EU/COUNCIL OF EUROPE PROJECT on ‘IMPROVING INTERNATIONAL JUDICIAL COOPERATION IN CRIMINAL MATTERS IN TURKEY’

The first Steering Committee Meeting of the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Project “Improving International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters in Turkey” took place online on 13 July 2021.

The representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Council of Europe, the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey and Central Finance and Contracts Unit attended the meeting together with representatives of the General Directorate of Sectors and Public Investments under the Strategy and Budget of the Presidency.

The meeting was launched with the opening remarks delivered by Mr Cristian Urse, Head of Ankara Program Office of the Council of Europe, Mr Kasım Çiçek, Director General of Foreign Relations and European Union Affairs at the Ministry of Justice, and Mr Mustafa Ferati, Head of Economic Crime and Cooperation Division of the Council of Europe.

The project team updated the stakeholders on the progress made in terms of the inception phase results and introduced the project’s work plan. The main topics discussed were the inception report, the logical framework, the communication and visibility plan and the scope of the planned activities.

The inception phase of the project will conclude with a Launching Conference planned to take place in September 2021.

The ‘Improving International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters’ project is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
