International Conference on the Promotion and the Implementation
of the Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions
17 – 18 March 2015
Oslo, Norway

Following the opening for signature of the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions on 18 September 2014 in Macolin/Magglingen, Switzerland, EPAS has been entrusted with the task of promoting the Convention and taking some preparatory steps to facilitate a quick and effective start by the Convention Follow-up Committee.

The Conference organised in Oslo was due to provide information on the on-going progress of signatures and ratifications, to identify possible obstacles that may be addressed at international level and to propose measures to promote signatures and ratifications of the Convention beyond Europe. It was also aimed at identifying how relevant authorities and other stakeholders can contribute to implementing the Convention and at clarifying the standards to be adopted by the Convention Follow-up Committee.

The Conference gathered around 110 participants representing public authorities as well as sports organisations involved in legal issues (officials from Sports Ministries and Justice and law enforcement authorities and Betting Regulatory Authorities).
