Judicial Cooperation

The Council of Europe is developing standard-setting and technical co-operation which aim at strengthening the capacities of its member states to co-operate internationally in criminal matters. Judicial co-operation, together with police co-operation, is a corner stone in the fight against crime and in particular against organised and other forms of serious crime.

The Council of Europe is giving support to countries in the implementation of European and international standards in the field of judicial co-operation through technical co-operation projects. These projects are not only funded from the Council of Europe's budget but also, to a large extent, by contributions from countries and organisations, in particular the European Commission.
