Local and regional democracy, separatist tensions and youth participation among the highlights of the 27th Session  [09/10/2014]

The members of the Congress will meet in session in Strasbourg (France) from 14 to 16 October 2014. Amongst other things they will be examining three reports following the observation of the local elections in the Netherlands (19 March 2014), Ukraine (25 May 2014) and Georgia (15 June 2014), and a report on the situation of local and regional democracy in Belgium. The agenda also includes a debate on separatist tensions in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The overarching theme of this Session will be �Empowering youth: a shared responsibility for cities and regions�. In this context, young delegates, aged 16 to 30 years, from 34 different countries will take part for the first time in the Congress�s activities and debates. The members of the Congress will also elect the Presidents of the Congress, the Chamber of Local Authorities, the Chamber of Regions, the Chairs of the Statutory Committees and the Vice-Presidents of the Congress.

D�mocratie territoriale, tensions s�paratistes et participation des jeunes parmi les points forts de la 27�me Session  [09/10/2014]

Les membres du Congr�s se r�uniront en session du 14 au 16 octobre 2014, � Strasbourg, France. Ils examineront notamment, trois rapports suite � l'observation des �lections locales aux Pays-Bas (19 mars 2014), en Ukraine (25 mai 2014) et en G�orgie (15 juin 2014), ainsi qu'un rapport sur la situation de la d�mocratie locale et r�gionale en Belgique. Un d�bat sur les tensions s�paratistes en Ukraine et dans les pays voisins figure �galement � l'ordre du jour. Cette session sera plac�e sous le th�me de � la place des jeunes dans la soci�t� : une responsabilit� partag�e des villes et r�gions�. Dans ce contexte, des jeunes d�l�gu�s, �g�s de 16 � 30 ans, venant de 34 pays participeront pour la premi�re fois aux travaux et aux d�bats du Congr�s. Les membres du Congr�s proc�deront aussi � l'�lection des pr�sident(e)s du Congr�s, de la Chambre des pouvoirs locaux, de la Chambre des r�gions, des commissions statutaires ainsi que des vice-pr�sident(e)s du Congr�s.
