Ferdinand Poni: ''In Albania, we have struck a perfect balance between our priorities and European priorities''

Albania's Deputy Minister of the Interior, Ferdinand Poni, attending the 23rd Session of the Congress, emphasised his country's strong commitment to the strengthening of local and regional democracy. 'In Albania, we have struck a perfect balance between our priorities and European priorities. We have broadened our cooperation with neighbouring States and taken a major step forward in our European integration process', he said. He also stressed how important it had been for Albania to hold the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, as well as how much his country had contributed to the consolidation of the European agenda. 'Although its Chairmanship is drawing to a close, Albania will pursue its efforts, demonstrating its attachment to the value and key role of local and regional governance in fostering participation and protecting and facilitating access to fundamental rights for all citizens', he concluded.

Ferdinand Poni, Ministre adjoint de l'Intérieur, Albanie, présent à la 23ème Session du Congrès, a souligné l'engagement fort de l'Albanie au renforcement de la démocratie au niveau local et régional. « En Albanie, nous avons trouvé un équilibre parfait entre nos priorités et les priorités européennes. Nous avons élargi notre coopération avec les pays voisins et nous avons fait un grand pas dans notre processus d'intégration européenne», a-t-il déclaré. Il a également insisté sur le rôle important que la Présidence de l’Albanie auprès le Comité des Ministres du Conseil de l’Europe a eu pour son pays, mais aussi leur contribution à la consolidation de l'agenda européen. «Bien que la présidence touche à sa fin, l'Albanie poursuivra ses efforts pour montrer son engagement envers la valeur et le rôle essentiel de la gouvernance locale et régionale pour favoriser la participation et pour protéger et faciliter l'accès aux droits fondamentaux pour tous les citoyens», a-t-il conclu.
