Intercultural cities: ''Showing all citizens the advantages of diversity''  [22/03/2012]

As part of its co-operation with the Intercultural Cities programme launched by the Council of Europe and the European Union, the Congress held a round table in Strasbourg (France) on 21 March on the theme of �Intercultural City: Building an inclusive local identity�. The mayors of six European cities reported on their experience in developing local policies in this area and discussed ways of shaping an optimum model for dealing with cultural diversity in local communities and managing relations between different ethnic and cultural groups. The participants in the round table included Andrew MONTAGUE, Lord Mayor of Dublin, Ireland, Korrie LOUWES, Deputy Mayor of Rotterdam, Netherlands, Sandrine SALERNO, Member of the Executive Council, City of Geneva, Switzerland, Mustafa DUNDAR, Mayor of Osmangazi/Bursa, Turkey, Savvas STOUPPAS, Deputy Mayor of Limassol, Cyprus, and Irina TESLEVA, Deputy Mayor of Izhevsk, Russian Federation.

Villes interculturelles : ''Montrer � tous les citoyens que la diversit� est un atout''  [22/03/2012]

Dans le cadre de sa coop�ration avec le programme des � villes interculturelles � lanc� par le Conseil de l�Europe et l�Union europ�enne, le Congr�s a tenu une table ronde le 21 mars � Strasbourg, (France) sur le th�me 'Ville interculturelle : b�tir une identit� inclusive locale'. Les maires de 6 villes europ�ennes y ont ainsi fait part de leur exp�rience en mati�re d��laboration de politiques locales dans ce domaine et discut� des moyens de fa�onner un mod�le optimal pour g�rer, d�une part, la diversit� culturelle dans les collectivit�s locales et, d'autre part, les relations entre groupes ethniques et culturels diff�rents.
