Intercultural and inter-faith dialogue: The Congress proposes the creation of a toolkit to prevent radicalisation at local and regional level

In the current context of rising extremism, it is essential to promote intercultural and inter-faith dialogue in towns, cities and regions to prevent radicalisation. This was reasserted by members of the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities meeting in session in Strasbourg (France) today. They adopted a resolution on the creation of a toolkit for use by local and regional elected representatives. In presenting the resolution, Bert Bouwmeester (Netherlands, ILDG) and Josef Neumann (Germany, SOC) said that the toolkit would comprise both digital resources and examples of good practices and would be available in 36 languages on a dedicate website.

Dans le contexte actuel de montée de l'extrémisme, il est essentiel de promouvoir le dialogue interculturel et interreligieux au sein des villes et des régions en vue de prévenir la radicalisation. C’est ce qu’ont réaffirmé les membres du Congrès des pouvoirs locaux et régionaux du Conseil de l’Europe réunis en session, le 22 mars 2016, à Strasbourg, France. Ils ont adopté une résolution portant sur la création d’une boîte à outils à destination des élus locaux et régionaux. Présentée par Bert Bouwmeester (Pays-Bas, GILD) et Josef Neumann (Allemagne, SOC), la boîte à outils rassemblera des ressources numériques ainsi que des exemples de bonnes pratiques et sera accessible en 36 langues sur un site web dédié.
