Protecting Democracy in the Digital Age
Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, recently visited the Council of Europe to introduce the tenth debate on Democratic Security, which focused on the protection of democracy in the digital age.
For Amb. Ischinger, the impact of new information and communication technologies is radically changing the nature of today’s conflicts. Massive damage can be caused with relatively little effort. Aggressors can conduct attacks for which the responses remain uncertain, and the lines between peace and war are becoming increasingly blurred.
