The European Commission's Expert Group on Cultural Heritage recently held its 9th Meeting in Brussels on 21 and 22 March 2023. During the event, several reports were presented on various cultural heritage fields. The EPA Secretariat was also in attendance and presented the Council of Europe's activities in the field of cultural heritage, including the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme, the European Heritage Days, the Council of Europe Nicosia Convention on offences relating to cultural property, and the Faro Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society.

The 9th Meeting of the European Commission's Expert Group on Cultural Heritage was a valuable opportunity for the EPA Secretariat to highlight the importance of cultural heritage and the Council of Europe's efforts to promote and protect it. The event also provided an opportunity to establish new connections and explore potential collaborations for the future, such as with Catherine Magnant, Head of Unit at DG.EAC Cultural Policy Unit, as well as government representatives from Ireland and Malta. These discussions focused on the possible future accession of their respective institutions/member states to the EPA.
