Congress Vice-President Xavier CADORET signs Pledge on political representation of Roma women

At the Sixth International Roma Women Conference on the topic of “Women and Political Representation: The Case of Roma and Traveller Women” which took place at the Council of Europe on 6 and 7 November,  Mr Xavier CADORET, Congress Vice-President, delivered a speech together with Mr Thorbjørn JAGLAND, Secretary General of the Council of Europe and a wide range of renowned international experts and Roma women from over 25 countries. On that occasion he signed the “Pledge on political representation of Roma women”. The pledge is a landmark document that allows members of political parties to position themselves clearly for gender equality and the political representation of women from minority groups, in particular Roma and Traveller women, in decision-making bodies. The pledge is an important way forward to promote the participation of women from minority groups at the next European, national, regional and local elections.
