The President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, Leendert Verbeek, took part in the United Nation’s High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). On 8 July, between 18:15 and 19:15 CETS, Mr Verbeek spoke at the session “Going Local”, focusing on how local authorities can be supported in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how to build on voluntary local reviews. Other participants included mayors and regional government representatives as well as representatives of local government associations from across the globe. This year’s High-Level Political Forum focused on sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. All proceedings were webcast (streamed) live and made available on demand on UN Web TV.
