When we leave
Austrian film director, screenwriter and producer Feo Aladag visiting the Council of Europe where she discusses her award-winning film “When we leave” (2010) with the Human Rights Channel.
Set in Istanbul and Berlin, the film tells the story of a young German/Turkish mother’s struggle for self-determination between two value systems.
Aladag's directorial debut “When We Leave” had its world premiere at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival in 2010, where it won the Europa Cinema Label Award. It went on to win the World Narrative Feature Competition at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, as well as the German Film Prize for Best Actress for Sibel Kekilli, and for the Best Film in Bronze.
