Presentation on bioethics in the framework of the winter school on European Human Rights Standards

On 1 February 2018 a presentation on bioethics in the context of right to respect for private and family life was conducted for a group of 28 students of law and international relations in course of the winter school on European Human Rights Standards devoted to the right to private and family life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The discussion evolved around such central principles of Human Rights protection in the field of biomedicine as primacy of human being, free and informed consent, protection of private right and right to information. These principles enshrined in the Oviedo Convention were illustrated by the relevant case-law of the European Court of Human Rights.

The school was organised in the framework of the Project “Human Rights for All” in co-operation with the Belarusian State University. The Project “Bioethics: Human Rights and Biomedicine” contributed to the organisation of the school.
