The 5th edition of NEUCHATOI will be held from 30 August to 30 October 2021, throughout the canton of Neuchâtel; it is intended to be an opportunity to invite the population of Neuchâtel to question the real or supposed tradition of openness in the canton of Neuchâtel, to reexamine the identity of Neuchâtel from the point of view of openness, and to question the discrimination that still persists in society today.

This edition of Neuchâtoi is also an opportunity to take a look at the intercultural integration policy of the canton of Neuchâtel, a pioneering policy in Switzerland which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2020.

Among the contributors of this year’s edition there is also the University of Neuchâtel, a long-term partner of the Canton of Neuchâtel which has made a significant contribution to the creation of a climate of openness to diversity, thus facilitating the implementation of the objectives of the intercultural integration policy. The latest issue of the magazine "UniNEws", gives a comprehensive overview of the innovative initiatives launched by the University in this field.

"Integration and innovation yesterday, today and tomorrow”

On 29 October 2021, and within the framework of the 5th edition of Neuchâtoi, the University of Neuchâtel - in collaboration with the Service de la Cohesion Multiculturelle of the Canton of Neuchâtel - will organise the colloquium "Integration and innovation yesterday, today and tomorrow". The aim of this conference is to portray integration as a factor of innovation, in economic, artistic, cultural and social terms. It will first explore the contribution of migration from a historical point of view, in Switzerland and in the Canton of Neuchâtel, before looking back at the Canton's integration policy over the last thirty years, and then examining the very notion of integration, as it is known and implemented in current Swiss migration law, particularly in the law on nationality. Finally, it will look at current and future developments in the field of integration and innovation.
