Organisation of Ibero-American States (EPA Observer): Technical Conference of the Euro-Ibero-American Cultural Cooperation on Cultural Routes in Guadalupe, Spain

On 26-28 October, the 2nd meeting of the Euro-Ibero-American Cultural Cooperation, dedicated to the analysis of sustainability, cohesion and social inclusion in territories through Cultural Routes, took place in the Auditorium of the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe, Extremadura, Spain.

The conference was organised by the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and the Academia Europa e Iberoamericana of the Yuste Foundation in cooperation with the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR) and with the collaboration of the EU-LAC Foundation and the Cooperation Network of the Routes of Emperor Charles V - Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, among other organisations.

The meeting counted the participation of Mr. Mariano JABONERO, Secretary General of of the Organisation of Ibero-American States, via video message; Ms. Natalia ARMIJOS VELASCO, General Director of Culture of the Organisation of Ibero-American States (OEI); Monica GARCIA ALONSO, General Directorate of Culture of OEI; Mr. Eladio FERNANDEZ GALIANO, Special Advisor to the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme; Mr. Sergio ORTEGA MUÑOZ, Head of European Programs Service of Ministry of Culture and Sports Spain and Representative of Spain to the EPA Governing Board; and Miguel Angel MARTIN RAMOS, President of the Cooperation Network of Routes of Emperor Charles V – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe among others.

Mr. Stefano DOMINIONI, Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes (EPA) and Director, European Institute of Cultural Routes addressed welcoming words to the participants and presented the Cultural Routes programme through a video message. Ms. Carolina CLARK, Project Manager of the European Institute of Cultural Routes, also presented the Links and Opportunities between Cultural Routes and Cooperation Networks, the experience of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme.

The event was also attended by the mayor of the Municipality of Guadalupe, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Spain, the European Union – Latin America and Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC foundation), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) as well Representatives of Universities in Mexico and Spain.

The aim of the conference is to contribute to cohesion between territories, groups and people working in the field of cultural cooperation, with the objective to create synergies between entities and reference networks that work in the field of culture, history, education and research as lines of action both in Europe and Latin America.

The Organisation of Ibero-American States (OEI) is an Observer to the Governing Board of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
