The European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) will celebrate its 20th anniversary during a ceremony to be held from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., as an introduction to its plenary meeting. The celebration will start with an address by Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić and Minister of Justice of Malta, Dr Jonathan Attard, followed by an exchange discussion on the challenges of a digitised judicial system in which many prominent personalities from the justice community will participate. Potential improvements for the future work of the CEPEJ will also be discussed.
The agenda of its plenary meeting (27-28 June) includes the adoption of the CEPEJ 2022 evaluation report which provides an overview of the key trends in the judicial systems of the Council of Europe member states and will be made public in the Autumn 2022, as well as discussions on cyberjustice and artificial intelligence, gender equality in the recruitment and promotion of judges, access to justice for people with disabilities and judicial time management.
In addition, the results of the 2nd award of the Junior Crystal Scales of Justice Prize will be announced.
