International election observers in Georgia to hold press conference on Sunday

TBILISI, 20 October 2017 – The international observers for the 21 October local elections in Georgia will present their preliminary post-election statement at a news conference on Sunday, 22 October, in Tbilisi.

The mission is a joint undertaking of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities (the Congress).

The statement will be delivered by Stewart Dickson, Spokesperson on Observation of Local and Regional Elections, on behalf of the Congress electoral assessment team, and Corien Jonker, Head of the OSCE/ODIHR long-term election observation mission.

The International Election Observation Mission comprises a total of 196 observers from 30 countries – 189 long-term and short-term observers deployed by the OSCE/ODIHR and seven observers from the Congress.

Journalists are invited to attend the press conference on Sunday, 22 October, at 15:00 in the Biltmore Hotel, 29 Rustaveli Ave., Tbilisi.
