32 Labour Inspectors successfully completed the online HELP course

The Council of Europe Project Strengthening Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia hosted an awards ceremony for 32 Labour Inspectors who successfully (with 96% success rate) completed the online HELP course on Labour Rights as Human Rights in Georgia. At the handover ceremony, successful participants were awarded certificates by Stefan Sirbu, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia and Beka Peradze, Head of Labour Inspection Office.

This course is a unique opportunity for the representatives of the Labor Inspection Office to raise knowledge in international standards of labor law, as well as to have the opportunity to get acquainted with the Georgian adapted edition of the unified European module and acquire the practice in professional manner.

Knowledge of labor relations regulating norms among socio-economic rights is of crucial importance for labor law professionals, especially for labor inspectors who on the daily basis are dealing with control of the compliance of established labor standards as well as on the other hand defining of incompliance with mandatory labor standards at the workplace.

Within a short period of time the labor inspection office representatives had an opportunity to enhance knowledge in labor law and appropriate international standards that should serve as a good ground for qualitative service provided from inspectors to the best interests of the public order of Georgia. During the course evaluation, labour inspectors mentioned that the course was immensely important for their daily work and that even before the graduation from the course, they have already started referencing the case laws and practices from the course in their conclusions and recommendations as needed.

The event was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia.” The Project is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
