Handover ceremony of HELP certificates

30 legal professionals representing law enforcement bodies, successfully finalised HELP course on Personal Data Protection and Privacy Rights.

10-module online course was implemented during the period from November 2020 to June 2021. The participants were able to acquire in-depth knowledge about the Council of Europe and the European Union standards in the field of personal data protection as well as respective Georgian law and practice.

In the view of relatively new legislation and practice in the field of personal data protection in Georgia and the amount of personal data processed by the government institutions on a daily basis, implementation of the above course was relevant and timely.

The course was implemented by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the State Inspector’s Service (national data protection authority). Certificates were handed over to successful participants by the Deputy State Inspector of Georgia, Sophio Jiadze and, the Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Vahagn Muradyan.

The Council of Europe continues further support to enhance the law and practice in the field of personal data protection in Georgia.

The online course was implemented in the framework of the Project "Strengthening Freedom of Media, Internet Governance and Personal Data Protection” SMIP-GE, funded by the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
