Conference “Roma narratives of the Holocaust: Representation, Remembrance and Collective Memory”

An international conference “Roma narratives of the Holocaust: Representation, Remembrance and Collective Memory” will take place at the Pedagogical University of Krakow to commemorate the Warsaw Uprising and to pay respect to the 500,000 Sinti and Roma murdered in Nazi-occupied Europe during the Second World War.

During a ceremony at the concentration and extermination camp in Auschwitz, Jeroen Schokkenbroek, Director of Anti-discrimination, will address the audience, including Holocaust survivors, and outline Council of Europe efforts to prevent and fight against increasing racism, anti-Gypsyism and antisemitism in Europe.
