Faro Action Plan

Putting the Faro Convention principles into practice
2'20" 20 January 2017 Council of Europe Strasbourg

The Faro Convention is the most comprehensive and diverse international agreement on cultural heritage so far. The key objectives of the convention include strengthening the connection between cultural heritage, quality of life, identity and sustainable development in society.

It promotes a wider understanding of heritage and its relationship to communities and society. The Convention encourages us to recognise that objects and places are not, in themselves, what is important about cultural heritage. They are important because of the meanings and uses that people attach to them and the values they represent.
