On February 24, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mr. Mikheil CHKHENKELI and the President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia Mr. Kakhaber KALADZE signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Promotion of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

The President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Mr. Anders KNAPE, the Secretary General of the Congress Mr. Andreas KIEFER, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia Mr. Cristian URSE and the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mr. Levan KHARATISHVILI were among the high-level officials attending the event.

Within the framework of the MoU, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia will cooperate in the following fields:

• Developing the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and raising public awareness;
• Involving local selfgovernment units in creation of new Cultural Routes also by planning and implementing joint projects in the field of cultural tourism;
• Fostering partnerships in the organization of international events on Cultural Routes and cultural tourism;
• Training of local government officials in the field of Cultural Route management.
