Online HELP training sessions on Key Principles on Bioethics were organised on 14 and 15 October 2021 for 5 groups of legal and healthcare professionals of Armenia, including the representatives from the Ministry of Health, National Institute of Health, Health and Labour Inspection body of RA, as well as medical doctors and other healthcare professionals, lawyers and advocates.

The training session was opened by Maxime Longangue, the Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, and Laurence Lwoff, Head of Bioethics Unit of the Council of Europe.

Following the general presentation of the Oviedo Convention and its Additional Protocols, the participants were introduced to the HELP programme and HELP in Armenia, as well as HELP online training platform (hosting over 35 courses available in more than 300 national adaptations with over 90000 users worldwide).

Substantial presentations on the ‘’Introduction of the Development of the HELP Course on the Key Principles on Bioethics’’ and ‘‘Medical Secret and Confidentiality’’ were made by Fabio Macioce, Professor of Philosophy of Law and Biolaw, Lumsa University; author of the HELP course on Bioethics and Izabel Abgaryan, Adviser to the Rector of Yerevan State Medical University and local consultant of the CoE Project on ‘’Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine’’.

The training sessions are tutored by five Armenian HELP certified tutors: Yevgenia Muradyan, Lilit Gevorgyan, Lendrush Hovhannisyan, Anahit Chilingaryan and Laura Gasparyan. Successful participants of these training sessions will receive certificates after completion of the Course.

The Training sessions were organised under the framework of the Council of Europe’s Project on ‘‘Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine’’ in Armenia.
