The European Institute of Cultural Routes receives the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage Award

The European Institute of Cultural Routes (Luxembourg) was awarded the 2018 XI Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage award for its contribution to European values and longtime support to the Cultural Routes of the Council Europe Programme.

Set up as part of a political agreement between the Council of Europe and the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, the European Institute of Cultural Routes is the Cultural Routes programme technical agency, giving advice to new route applicants for certification and housing extensive information and documentary resources on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme.

This prestigious award and its bronze sculpture was presented in Valladolid (Spain) on 10th November by the regional Minister of culture of Castilla-León, Ms Josefa García Cirac, to Mr Eladio Fernández-Galiano, member of the Board of the Institute.

Ms García Cirac said in her speech that in this European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 it was important to recognize the value for citizens of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes as they bring people together, enhance cultural heritage and contribute to sustained development in regions such as hers.
