Roundtable on enhancing Armenia’s national capacity to execute ECHR judgments

On 11 May the Execution Department participated in a roundtable in Strasbourg on fostering execution by Armenia of the European Court’s judgments. It was combined with the opening session of the Interagency Committee coordinating the execution of the Court’s judgments against Armenia established by decision of the Prime Minister in 2021. The Execution Department welcomed the creation of the Committee and underlined the importance of its regular meetings from the point of view of effective execution of ECHR judgments against Armenia.

A number of issues pending execution before the Committee of Ministers were also discussed, notably: the need for further action was highlighted in the fields of prevention of ill-treatment in law enforcement, protection against hate crimes, providing adequate healthcare in places of deprivation of liberty, ensuring respect for the right to freedom of assembly.
