On the occasion of World Refugee Day, the Youth Department of the Council of Europe highlights the importance of implementing the Recommendation on supporting young refugees in transition to adulthood adopted by the Committee of Ministers in 2019.

With the Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the world, young refugees in transition to adulthood are among the most vulnerable.

The Council of Europe youth sector held a consultative meeting with youth and refugee partner organisations to review ways to support the implementation of the Recommendation, notably though capacity-building, awareness-raising and advocacy.

 Social inclusion of young refugees remains a priority in the Youth for Democracy Programme of the Council of Europe.
