Webinars on Saving missing children and on Voluntary relocations of child refugees

On 4 December 2020, the UK Parliament organises a web-conference on “voluntary relocations of child refugees and other vulnerable refugees: achievements and future challenges”, which is part of the preparation of a report on this subject by Lord Alexander Dundee for the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) . This conference follows on from the web-conference of the UK Parliament held on 19 June 2020. Since June, more than 1500 child refugees and other vulnerable refugees have been relocated from Greece and other countries with external EU borders.

On 24 November 2020, the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons participated in the web-conference held by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on “protecting migrant children and saving missing children”. The conference was as a follow-up by the committee rapporteur Ms Serap YASAR to PACE Resolution 2324 (2020) on missing refugee and migrant children in Europe. The Committee´s contribution was made as a response to the proposal by the PACE President Rik DAEMS, that national parliaments organise joint online activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. Given the high estimates of missing, abused and deceased migrant children, the conference concluded that more action is needed by national parliaments and relevant stakeholders in Europe.
