Almost 200 European Qualifications Passports for Refugees issued so far

From 12 to 16 November 2018, in Turin and Milan, Italy, new assessment sessions are being held in the context of the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR) initiative. Education International is participating in the first two days as observers and the three teams of evaluators come from ENICs (European National Information Centres) from France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Norway.

On 29 October 2018, in the Netherlands, online video interviews were held with refugees in reception centres and a second assessment session will take place from 19-20 November 2018. The refugees interviewed are staying at reception centres in Amsterdam, Luttelgeest and Heerhugowaard.

The EQPR is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan on Protecting Refugee and Migrant Children in Europe (2017-2019) and the aim is to provide refugees with a document assessing their qualifications based on available documentation and a structured interview. In addition to education qualifications, it also presents information on the applicant´s work experience and language proficiency. A total of 188 passports have been issued since the start of the project, based on 234 interviews. 23 credential evaluators with a wide range of language competences have been trained so far on the EQPR methodology.
