Council of Europe launches Handbook on child-friendly information for children in migration

On 18 December 2018, the Children´s Rights Division published a Handbook for frontline professionals on how to convey child-friendly information to children in migration aimed at all professionals and volunteers working with children in migration. It contains recommendations from children to improve communication and examples of promising practice. The handbook addresses the lack of accurate, trustworthy and accessible information and is a practical guide on how to accompany a child at each stage of his or her journey: from arrival at our borders to finding durable solutions towards integrating into the host country. The handbook is part of the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child (2016-2021) and the Council of Europe Action Plan on Protecting Refugee and Migrant Children in Europe (2017-2019). It was launched in English, with the French version being made available for download at the end of January; it will then be translated into several languages.
