GRETA carried out an urgent procedure visit to Hungary

From 10 to 12 December 2017, a delegation of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) carried out a visit to Hungary. The visit was organised under GRETA’s urgent procedure rules and examined the specific situation of identification and referral to assistance of victims of trafficking among asylum seekers in transit zones at the border to Serbia.

During the visit, GRETA’s delegation held meetings with the relevant authorities as well as with representatives of international and non-governmental organisations. Further, the delegation visited the transit zones in in Röszke and Tompa and a Children’s Centre in Fót where unaccompanied asylum-seeking children younger than 14 are accommodated.

Following the visit, GRETA will prepare a report which will be sent to the Hungarian authorities for comments and will subsequently be published.
