On 2 March 2021, the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, invited 12 women from different national minorities groups to a meeting aimed at drawing attention to the multiculturalism of Ukrainian society. The President's wife and the participants discussed the importance of cultural diversity and tolerance in society. The participants shared their personal stories of discrimination and their actions to combat prejudice. Zola Kondur, Council of Europe project officer “Protecting national minorities, including Roma and minority languages in Ukraine” attended the meeting and raised the issues of Roma women inclusion, she said the following:

"Most Roma women in Ukraine face multiple forms of discrimination – based on their gender, ethnicity, and social status. For a comprehensive solution to the problems with IDs, access to education, employment, medical and social services, the post 2020 Roma Strategy needs to be adopted and hopefully, presented for President’s approval and signature in the nearest time.

Speaking about the voices and participation of women, it is also important to strengthen Roma women's participation in decision-making at various levels. The Roma Political Schools of the Council of Europe can be seen as one of the positive examples that provided an opportunity to prepare Roma women for actively engaging in the local elections".
