Greece: new leadership academy programme

How can institutional leadership be strengthened in order to deliver better governance, build inter-municipal cooperation, and develop resilience at local level?

The Centre of Expertise for Good Governance, in the framework of the “Technical Assistance Project on Delivering Good Governance in Greece”, is currently conducting an online Training of Trainers for the Leadership Academy Programme, based on the relevant Council of Europe tool.

The Training of Trainers started on 6 April and will unfold in four stages until 15 April. It targets 16 Greek trainers from the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, the General Secretariat for Coordination, the Central Union of Municipalities and the Hellenic Competition Commission.

The main focus of the Training is to introduce the methodology of the Leadership Academy Programme to the Greek trainers, with a focus on inter-municipal cooperation, equal opportunities and participation, and resilience building strategies. Through a combination of theoretical sessions with practical group exercises, the participants will acquire the necessary skills to be able to train local authorities, elected officials and senior civil servants in Greece.

A special pilot training session will be held on 26 April 2021, targeting representatives of the municipalities already involved in the two pilot inter-municipal cooperation schemes of the project.
