MICULA Alexandru Victor

Ambassador Victor Micula is a career diplomat working for the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) since 1996. On 14th of November 2018, he was appointed Secretary of State.

As a diplomat in the Romanian MFA, he fulfilled responsibilities both in the Foreign Ministry and the diplomatic service. He attained the diplomatic rank of Ambassador in 2008.

He held principal positions such as Secretary of State (Feb 2016 – Jan 2018 and Nov 2007 – Jun 2008), Secretary General (Jun 2008 – Apr 2009), Under Secretary of State (Jun – Nov 2007), Director General (Feb – Jun 2007), Deputy Director General (Feb – Nov 2018), Chief of Staff and Spokesperson (Jan 2001 – Oct 2002). He was appointed as Romania’s Ambassador to Hungary (2011-2016), Denmark and Iceland (2009-2011), as well as Argentina and Paraguay (2002-2007).

Ambassador Micula is a graduate of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, and the National Institute of Administration of Bucharest. He is fluent in Spanish and English, with limited working proficiency of Hungarian.
