GLACY+: Mainstreaming cybercrime training modules in the curricula of Ghanaian Judicial Training Institutions

After the roll-out of the new Introductory Judicial Training and Advanced Judicial Training courses in Ghana, the GLACY+ project continued with a discussion on the long-term integration of judicial training on cybercrime and electronic evidence into the curricula of training institutions, preferably as part of broader training strategies adopted by both the judicial and prosecutors’ training schools - which was the objective of this activity which took place in Accra on 20-22 March 2019.

The activity was organized with the assistance of the office of the National Cyber Security Centre advisor of the Republic of Ghana and the Judicial Training Institute.

Discussions were based also on the Declaration of Principles of Judicial Training on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence that includes a set of recommendations to be considered when defining the national strategy for judicial training on these matters. The Declaration was adopted by all the GLACY+ countries at the International Workshop on Judicial Training Strategies on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence held in Cebu, the Philippines on 12-14 December 2017.

Having as reference this Declaration, Ghanaian judges and prosecutors participating in the workshop drafted the GHANA National Judicial Training Strategy on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence – recommendations. The document will be further discussed with other relevant decision makers and serve as the foundation for a national training strategy in this field.

This activity was organized joining resources with Cybercrime@Octopus project.
