Retour iPROCEEDS: Introductory Judicial Course on Cybercrime, Electronic Evidence and Online Crime Proceeds

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina ,

Around 50 judges, prosecutors and legal associates from Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in the pilot delivery of the Introductory Training Course on Cybercrime, Electronic Evidence and Online Crime Proceeds, developed under iPROCEEDS, from 6 to 9 November 2017. The training was conducted by four national trainers who successfully completed a Training of Trainers course in June 2017.

Organised in collaboration with the Centers for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, the introductory training module touched upon aspects of cybercrime, electronic evidence, financial investigations of online crime proceeds and money laundering typologies in a successful attempt to train judges and prosecutors to deal with them, making use of the existing technologies and substantive and procedural laws. The importance of expedite and extensive international cooperation on the matters listed above was highlighted.

Lack of adequate training can be a major obstacle in having judges and prosecutors responding to the threat of cybercrime, online crime proceeds and handling electronic evidence in an effective and efficient way. The importance of such trainings was acknowledged by all participants in the course.
